Chevalier of the French Order of the “Palmes Académiques” (2017), born and bred in Toulon (Provence), Isabelle studied law at the Université of Toulon-La Garde for 2 years before deciding to “give it all up for love” and moving to the United States in 1981. She has enjoyed a diverse career, including starting as book-store manager in Savannah, GA, then becoming a French teacher in Kansas City, MO, an African museum docent in South Carolina, and teacher again in St. Louis, MO and Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil.

Isabelle has been a teacher / translator / lecturer / tour-guide, etc. at the Alliance Française de St. Louis since 1998, and she became its Executive Director in 2009.

Isabelle is a history buff, French music explorer (she has led her Wednesday Casse-croûte students in the discovery of hundreds of French songs from rap to opera), keen observer of French traditions, voracious reader (in French and English), pathological collector of antiques, and lover of all things St. Louis. She is VERY French in the US and hopelessly American in France, the best of both worlds!
