Every year in May, the Alliance Française de St. Louis is proud to offer a scholarship for college students to study abroad in France or another Francophone country.
Mallory Weisenborn was one of last year's scholarship recipients, and she just arrived in France in January to spend a semester abroad studying French at the Université de Caen Normandie. She wrote to us to let us know that she has settled in very well, and everything is going great. Here is her update...
My name is Mallory Weisenborn, one of the students who was awarded a “bourse” to study for a semester in France. I arrived on Monday, January 15th. I am well settled and very happy to be here. My host family is great, and the house is perfect. It is very close to the university and to the downtown area. I do not have to take the bus often as the house is so well located.
I took my placement test, and I am in the B10+ level. I have phonetics, grammar, Power and Society in France, oral and written communication, global stimulation, and writing classes. I like my classes, my teachers, and my fellow students.
I have already made a lot of friends here... people who come from all over the world! I live with a student from Norway – She is only going to be studying here for a month. My classmates come from everywhere in the world: Iraq, Indonesia, Japan, China, Ukraine, Syria, Taiwan, and more. I’ve also found a group of Americans who comes from Wisconsin… but, I do not want to spend too much time with them as I will never learn French if I speak English all the time! So, all is well, and I am taking full advantage of my stay. I will send you more news when I have something interesting to share.
Merci et bonne journée!
