The Alliance Française de St. Louis mourns one of its own: Board member, student and most generous friend, Daryl Younker.
Have you ever felt like rewinding your day as one would an old-fashioned cassette-tape? I did this morning when I realized that Daryl would never walk into the Alliance again.
For 20 years, Daryl was my mentor, my most ardent supporter. One of his letters made me a Knight in the French order of the Palmes Académiques. My office bears his name. I hope he knew how much he meant to me. I wish I had had the courage to tell him. My broken heart goes out to Carl, his family and his many friends everywhere.
Everyone at the Alliance Française de St. Louis will miss him. We feel fortunate to have known him. His kindness, enthusiasm, vision and generosity have touched us all. We will carry on his love of France and all things French.
Ce n'est qu'un au revoir Daryl !
