The Alliance Francaise de St. Louis is proud to offer French classes beyond our standard curriculum, including Phonetics and Book Study, which can be taken as standalone classes or in addition to your current coursework. These classes aim to help learners improve in specific areas such as pronunciation, oral comprehension, grammar, written comprehension, etc.
Below you will find some of our specialized classes. If you are interested in enrolling in one of these courses, please contact us. These classes are ongoing, and you may enroll at any time.
Please note: as the Alliance Française is a membership-based organization, an annual membership is required to register for classes.
In our phonetics course, you will work on improving your pronunciation and oral comprehension skills through the reading of poems, studying expressions and reading texts.
One of the best ways to improve your French writing skills and grammar plus your oral comprehension is through dictée, or dictation exercises. In this class, we will work through a variety of dictation exercises, starting with questions about the given topic, going through the dictée, and then correcting it. This class is great as both an addition to your current coursework at the Alliance Française or as a standalone class.
This book study class works to improve your written comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar skills through the reading of short stories and current news articles. Presently, the class is working through short stories by Maupassant.
