New French Classes Coming in July!

July will be here before we know it. With our next session of classes that starts July 9th, 2018, we will be introducing some new adult French classes! If you are interested in enrolling in one of our new classes, please contact us!

Please note: as the Alliance Française is a membership-based organization, an annual membership is required to register for classes.


A1.1 Complete Beginner

Thursdays 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Tuition: $180 / 6-week session (12 teaching hours)
Textbook: Alter Ego+ A1 - $50
Instructor: Simon Mutombo

Start your journey here. This class is for complete beginners of French. You will begin to understand and use familiar everyday experiences, learn how to introduce yourself and others and ask/answer questions about personal details, and interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly.


B1.1 - Intermediate

Saturdays 10:00am - 12:00pm
Tuition: $180 / 6-week session (12 teaching hours)
Textbook: Alter Ego+ B1 - $50
Instructor: Myriam Bourg

In this new B1 Intermediate class, you will work to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. You will learn to with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken; produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest; and finally, you will describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.


Dictée Hour (Intermediate Level - B1+)

Thursdays 9:30am - 10:30am
Tuition: $90 / 6-week session (6 teaching hours)
No textbook required
Instructor: Stephanie Knoerle

One of the best ways to improve your French writing skills and grammar plus your oral comprehension is through dictée, or dictation exercises. In this class, we will work through a variety of dictation exercises, starting with questions about the given topic, going through the dictée, and then correcting it. This class is great as both an addition to your current coursework at the Alliance Française or as a standalone class.


Book / Theme Study (Advanced Beginners - A2+)

Thursdays 10:30am - 11:30am
Text: Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Cambrioleur
Tuition: $90 / 6-week session (6 teaching hours)
Instructor: Stephanie Knoerle

This book study class will focus on the stories of Arsène Lupin, a character created in 1905 by Maurice Leblanc. In this class, we will work on written comprehension, vocabulary and grammar based on the texts. The one required text is Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Cambrioleur, which you will need to purchase in advance. By purchasing it through Amazon using this link, a portion of the sale will go to the Alliance Française.
