We recently announced our plans to expand our kitchen in order to start offering French cooking demonstrations and workshops at the Alliance Française. We officially broke ground at the end of June 2018, and we are proud to share that less than a month later, our new kitchen is here!
When we moved into our new building at 930 N. McKnight a year and a half ago (after residing several decades at our Delmar location), we knew that we would have expand our kitchen. The Alliance Française is not only a French language center but also a cultural center, and one of the most critical aspects of French culture is the food - and wine.
Our new kitchen comes equipped with a stove, wine fridge, lots of cabinets and plenty of counter space. One of our favorite features is that the kitchen now opens up into "la grande salle," which is our large room that we use for events and for kids' classes. This makes it easy to host cooking demonstrations and workshops for large groups.
While we do not have any workshops or demonstrations on the calendar yet, stay tuned! We plan to start having them in the very near future! Sign up for our bi-weekly newsletter (bottom of page) to stay up-to-date on all of the Alliance Française happenings!
Our new kitchen would not be possible without the help of our generous donors. In addition to a silent auction we hosted at the end of 2017, individual donors helped to raise over $40,000 to pay for this new kitchen. This tremendously helped facilitate the expansion of the kitchen. In total, the cost of the kitchen was around $60,000. If you have the means, please consider a donation to the Alliance Française! As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, your donation is 100% tax-deductible!
