Simon grew up in the French-speaking Democratic Republic of the Congo. He graduated with a degree in Political and Administrative Sciences from the University of Lubumbashi and worked at the largest mining company in the Congo while teaching a few hours of French at a local high school.

Simon moved to Nairobi, Kenya in 1994 and begun teaching French to learners of all levels (Beginner, Intermediate, advanced) at the Alliance Française in Nairobi. There, Simon took great joy in seeing his students who arrived at the Alliance Française without knowing a single word of French go on to passing the examination for the Diploma of the French Language issued by Paris.

Simon arrived in the United States and has taught French for all levels at the Alliance Française de St. Louis since 2008. Simon is married and has five children and fourteen grandchildren.
