New B1+ Class, Histoire de la langue française, Starts July 8
We are thrilled to announce that our instructor, Martin Maillot, is back this summer to offer another one of his highly anticipated classes, Histoire de la langue française. In this 8-week class, which is suitable for learners at the B1 level and up, we will dive into the fascinating evolution of French over the centuries up to the present day using a variety of period texts.

This class will meet every Wednesday from 9:00am to 11:00am beginning July 8, 2026, and will take place strictly on Zoom. Tuition is $304, which comes out to $19 per hour of instruction.
Course Description
Comment est-on passé du latin « aqua » à « eau » ? De « lactem » à « lait » ? Pourquoi le français contient-il toutes ces lettres que l’on ne prononce pas ? Pourquoi les francophones disent-ils tantôt « Je sais pas ? » et tantôt « Je ne sais pas ? » – et depuis quand ? À quoi ressemblera le français en 2100 ? Pour connaître les réponses à ces questions (et bien plus), ce cours d’histoire de la langue française est pour vous. Pendant huit semaines et à partir de textes d’époque, nous allons nous plonger dans la fascinante évolution du français au fil des siècles jusqu’à aujourd’hui afin de découvrir ce qui a fait du français ce qu’il est.
