French Phonetics (A1-A2) - Wednesdays at 9:30am (Starts September 3)

It is often said that the French find the American accent to be ‘charmant’. However, when your accent starts to interfere with effective communication, it can easily go from ‘charmant’ to ‘choquant’! During our eight weeks together, we will explore a broad range of topics including production, intonation, rhythm, and accentuation. Students will simultaneously improve their speaking abilities while discovering why the French language sounds the way it does!

This phonetics class is suitable for beginners of French (levels A1 to A2). The class will meet for eight weeks beginning September 3, 2025. It will meet every Wednesday from 9:30am to 11:30am with Martin. This class is a hybrid class and may be taken in-person and/or on Zoom. Tuition is $280, which comes out to $17.50 per hour of instruction.

• If you are not sure what your level in French is, we recommend that you take our placement test before enrolling. This will ensure that you are placed in an appropriate class for your level.

• If you are new to the Alliance Française de St. Louis, or your annual membership has lapsed, you will need to purchase a membership to enroll.
